Co-Chairman’s Note

The Western Region Master Mechanics Association has made some big changes. For example, the entire meeting format has been changed to leverage best practices related to Safety, Environment, and Maintenance. It has been almost three years since the revitalization effort and we are making another significant change to our meetings. From this point forward we would like to extend an invitation to those Western Supplier Association’s Member companies to send a maximum of two maintenance and / or technical employees to attend our surface group meetings and be a full participant to our expanding group.

It is important to our mining company members that sales and / or marketing personnel do not attend the meeting as this type of participation is reserved for other times and events. The newly realized value is based on technical, safety or environment topics and discussions. This change is two fold at the least; first, it brings many years of experience to the group that has been historically discounted, and, second it brings more value to the Western Supplier Association’s members by working more closely with the industry group members.

We have established some simple ground rules for our meetings and your representative’s participation. The ground rules are listed below:

• Two representatives maximum for each supplier per surface group meeting (as many as you like may attend the hospitality and lunch)
• No sales or marketing personnel in the Master Mechanics Surface Group meetings (unless requested for a special presentation, project or occasion)
• Supplier representative attendees must be from a “paid and current” yearly member company of the Western Suppliers Association.
• Each supplier company must bring two best practices in Maintenance and one in Safety. It is encouraged that you bring an environmental best practice each meeting also.
• Each attendee must be positive and proactive with a mindset to be a part of the solution or improvement.

Don’t forget to pre-register for the meeting on the web site. It is not a requirement, but it does help us plan the event.
